Welcome to the Review Board project! You've been chosen by a secret society of monks and/or your professors to work with us for the semester on our humble little project.

What is Review Board?

Review Board is an open source code review tool we've been developing since 2006. The basic premise of code review is that by having a peer look over your code before you check it in, you can find bugs early, ensure consistently good architecture and design, transfer knowledge between developers, and generally improve the quality of your code-base. Review Board facilitates this process by giving people a central place to put code changes up for review and discuss them.

Review Board is used by thousands of companies across the world to help raise the overall standard of quality in software. It's now used at such companies as Twitter, Electronic Arts, VMware, Cisco, and many, many more.

Until 2013, Review Board was a side project. The two project founders (David and Christian) now work on it full-time. We've also been participating in student projects courses for many years now.

By working on Review Board this semester, you may just be making your own life easier down the road. Many of our former students have been hired by companies who noticed Review Board on their resumés. Several of these students have ended up using the features they developed every day in their dream job.

What's in store this semester?

You're going to be working with us over this semester on projects we can include in a future release of Review Board.

You'll learn to take ownership of a major feature, schedule it, design it, and build it. This is something that can actually ship and end up in the hands of hundreds of thousands of software developers. No pressure, but many former students describe it as one of the most important classes in their entire educational career.

We only accept the best students, meaning that if you're working with us, your professors have personally vouched for you. You're going to have a lot of responsibilities, but we think you're going to really enjoy it.
