Djblets 3.0

Transition release, bridging the gap between Review Board 4.0/Django 1.11 compatibility and future on-going Django/Python LTS compatibility.

Compatibility:

• Python 3.7+.
• Django 3.2 LTS compatibility (no 4.0 compatibility)
• Django Pipeline 2.0.x
• Django-oauth-toolkit 1.5.x (Check on this..)

Planned Changes:

• Move from django.utils.six to six
  • May want to add a compatibility patch to map the old module.
• Add:
  • PackagingManifestFilesStorage (for PipelineCachedStorage removal)
  • MultiManifestsStaticFileStorage and an accompanying Pipeline version (see CachedStaticFilesStorage vs. ManifestStaticFilesStorage).
  • Enhanced (pluggable) API token generation
    • Token length will increase
    • Prefix support and token verification will be added
• Remove:
  • Explicit django-pipeline dependency, to allow for Pipeline 1.6/2.0 compatibility.
    • This will require making this a dev dependency and making code conditional on this.
    • Consider making this a "extra" dependency?
  • djblets.db.query.chainable_select_related_queryset:
    • [ ] Deprecate this on release-2.x.
  • djblets.util.compat.django
    • [ ] Deprecate all internal functions on release-2.x.
  • djblets.util.decorators.cached_property
    • [ ] Deprecate on release-2.x.
• New deprecations:
  • Maybe: Deprecate djblets.template.context.get_default_template_context_processors().
  • djblets.db.backends.mysql

Djblets 4.0

Modern release tracking modern Python and latest LTS version of Django.

Compatibility

• Python 3.7+ (might require a newer minimum)
